Supreme Court Issues Split Opinion On Arizona Immigration Law

Tuesday the United States Supreme Court announced its second-most anticipated ruling of the year –the federal government’s challenge to Arizona’s controversial immigration law, S.B. 1070.

The Court’s decision will issue before the end of its current term, near the end of June 2012, although there is speculation that the decision may come earlier.

Supreme Court Hears Challenges to Health Care Reform

2011 November 15.

The U.S. Supreme Court agreed to review the constitutionality of the health care reform laws referred to commonly as Obamacare. The court will decide the fate of the law by ruling on constitutional challenges that were brought by Republican officials from 26 different states. Opponents of the law argue that Congress exceeded its constitutional authority when passing the act. The high court will likely hear the matter in early spring 2012 and issue a ruling in late June, well in advance of the presidential election.
