Western Growers Reviews Health Care Legislation

With health care reform legislation set to become the law of the land, once it becomes clear how those provisions will affect member-companies, Western Growers will be hosting a series of health care reform workshops and will be providing a detailed analysis of the final health care reform provisions. President Barack Obama is expected to sign the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act – health care reform – tomorrow.

Congress Passes Health Care Reform

2010 March 20.

Today U.S. House of Representatives passed the U.S. Senate’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act – health care reform legislation – by a vote of 219 to 212. President Barack Obama is expected to sign this bill as early as this week. The Senate will take up a package of changes, also passed by the House, in the coming weeks and months.

Health Care May Pass on Sunday, Contact Congress

2010 March 19.

Though it continues to be a moving target, the U.S. House of Representatives could vote as early as Sunday, to approve the Senate’s health care reform package, which was passed on December 24, 2009, as well as on a package of changes to that bill. If the House passes the Senate bill (whether by “deeming it passed” or having a straight up or down vote), it will then go to the President for signature. If passed, and signed into law, the Senate would take up the package of changes from the House.
